About Parr Business Law

Parr Business Law (PBL) is a Vancouver based boutique law firm established in 2017. We focus on estate planning, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and corporate work for business owners and families across British Columbia. We are a growth oriented firm that is actively integrating AI into how we operate, communicate with clients, and deliver legal work.

Position Overview

We are hiring a full time AI Integration Intern starting in May 2026. This is an in person role based at our Vancouver office. You will work directly with the Founder and the Head of Marketing as their right hand person on AI integration across the firm. You will also work alongside the broader operations and legal team. The goal is straightforward. We want AI tools embedded in how the firm works day to day, and we want a builder who can make that happen.

This is a builder role, not a research role. You will take ideas, prototype quickly, test with the team, and ship working tools that staff actually use.

Because our work is client confidential, we put a heavy emphasis on privacy forward AI. You will help us decide when a task can run on a cloud model and when it needs to stay on an offline or local server model. Building out our local inference stack is one of the priorities of the role.

What You Will Do

  • Help integrate AI tools across the firm. This includes evaluating new tools, configuring them, training staff, and refining how each one fits into existing workflows.
  • Build AI assisted workflows for document review, intake summary generation, content drafting, and internal research. You will design prompts, build templates, and turn one off uses into repeatable systems.
  • Lead the firm's use of privacy forward AI for sensitive matters. Evaluate, deploy, and maintain offline and local server models (for example Ollama, LM Studio, or on premise inference setups) so we can run client confidential work through AI without sending data to third party cloud providers. You will help us draw clear lines between which tasks belong on cloud LLMs and which need to stay local.
  • Support the Head of Marketing on AI driven marketing work including CRM automation, content production, lead nurture sequences, and analytics. As one example, you will help complete and integrate our ScoreApp quiz funnel.
  • Help the team identify opportunities where AI saves time or improves quality, then run the experiment to prove it out.
  • Document what you build. Strong SOPs, prompt libraries, and internal guides are deliverables, not afterthoughts.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Canadian post secondary institution.
  • Background in business, engineering, computer science, information systems, or a closely related field.
  • Hands on experience using modern AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, or similar large language model interfaces, with a working understanding of how to write effective prompts and chain them into workflows.
  • Comfort learning new software platforms quickly without a formal training program.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication.
  • Ability to break a fuzzy problem into concrete steps and ship a working version.
  • Available to work full time and in person at our Vancouver office starting in May 2026.
  • Willing to sign a confidentiality agreement at the start of the role.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with a CRM platform such as Lawmatics, HubSpot, or Salesforce.
  • Experience with no code automation tools such as Zapier, Make, or n8n.
  • Basic understanding of API calls, JSON, and webhooks.
  • Prior internship, freelance, or personal project work building AI tools or business automations.
  • Interest in legal technology or professional services.
  • Awareness of privacy and confidentiality considerations in regulated industries (an asset given our Law Society of British Columbia obligations).
  • Hands on experience with local or self hosted LLMs (Ollama, LM Studio, llama.cpp, vLLM, or similar). You understand the trade offs between cloud and local inference and can pick the right tool for a given sensitivity level.
  • Light coding ability in Python or JavaScript for occasional scripting.

Skills and Attributes We Value

  • Curious. You ask good questions and you go find answers.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity. You move forward instead of waiting for a perfect brief.
  • Detail oriented. You test what you build before handing it off.
  • Proactive communicator. You raise blockers early.
  • Service mindset. You care about the people who use what you build.
  • Strong follow through. You finish what you start.
  • Growth oriented. You take feedback well and you keep getting better.

What You Will Gain

You will work directly with the Founder and the Head of Marketing on AI projects that touch every part of the firm. You will deploy real systems used daily by lawyers, paralegals, marketing staff, and operations. You will build a portfolio of shipped work you can show future employers or clients. You will gain exposure to the legal technology and professional services automation space at a moment when both are being reshaped by AI. Strong performance in the summer can lead to a continuation pathway with the firm beyond the internship.

Compensation, Hours, and Logistics

  • Full time, in person at our Vancouver office.
  • Start date in May 2026.
  • Hourly compensation. Rate confirmed at offer stage.
  • Confidentiality agreement required at signing.
  • Continuation beyond the summer is possible based on performance and firm needs.

Take Home Challenge

Shortlisted candidates will complete a short take home challenge before the final interview. You will be asked to outline how you would automate one of the workstreams described above. We are looking for your proposed tool stack, the process you would follow, the prompts or logic you would design, how you would test and validate the build, and how you would hand it off to the team. Clear thinking matters more than polish. We want to see how you approach a real problem.

How to Apply

Send your application to hiring@parrbusinesslaw.com. Include your resume, a short cover note explaining what draws you to this role, and any links to past projects, repositories, or AI builds you are proud of. If you have completed a relevant course, certification, or notable side project, mention it. Bonus points if your application itself shows thoughtful use of AI in how you researched and prepared it.

Applications close May 15, 2026.
